Best Malaga Sunset Hike + Picnic

What we’ll do

We will start this experience in city center where I will meet you. First, we will take a bus (tickets included) to the closest neighborhood of our hiking tour. Once there, we will take a taxi (included) to do the first stage of our hike through a residential area and after we will start our hike through Natural Park. We will be able to take some breaks if necessary. The summit it is very close to city center, it will take us only 1 hour and 30 min from city center to the top of the mountain. Definitely, it worths it! 🙂

After our hike, we will arrive at the summit before sunset and it will be time to recover some energy. We will enjoy  a delicious picnic with a big variety of food: tortilla,  fruits, chorizo, cheese, humus, olives, vegetables, snacks and some drinks. While we are having our picnic we will be amazed with the views and the incredible trick of light and shadow. Do not forget to bring your camera because I am 100% sure you will be willing to immortalize this moment. Also, if we are lucky enough, we will be able to see the African continent!!!!

Where you’ll be

We will hike to San Antón mountain, 500 meters high and very close to city center, it is one of the best viewpoints of Malaga. This mountain is habitat of chameleons and from the top we will find the Natural Park of the Montes de Malaga. Perfect place to be in contact with nature, do some sport, enjoy a picnic and take incredible pictures of the landscape and the sunset. Without a doubt, it will surprise you!

Itinerary

Plaza de la Marina

This is our meeting point. We will always meet 2 hours before sunset right next to the tourist office where you will be given your picnic bag and hiking equipment. A small introduction to meet each other and we will take a taxi to our hiking starting point. 

Monte de San Antón

We will hike to San Antón mountain, 500 meters high. It is one of the best viewpoints of Malaga.First part is flat and second part is steep, so we will have breaks to drink some water.This mountain is habitat of chameleons and from the top we will find the Natural Park of the Montes de Malaga. 

Cruz de San Antón

After 45 minute hike, we will reach the popular cross of San Anton. This is the summit of the mountain. From this point we will be able to see the  Natural Park of the Montes de Malaga, city of Malaga and surroundings, the Mediterranean Sea and if it is not cloudy… AFRICA!

Picnic time

After reaching the summit you will have free time to enjoy the views, take incredible pictures  and we will finish off this experience with a delicious picnic on the top of Malaga. During the picnic you will be informed about the views. (*Picnic is adapted to guests’ diet)

Back to city center

After enjoying our sunset and picnic, you will be provided with headlamps to start our way down. This experience is perfect to be in contact with nature, do some sport, enjoy a picnic, meet other travelers and take incredible pictures of Malaga’s landscape and sunset. Without a doubt, it will surprise you!

A Perfect Morning in Malaga

What we’ll do

We will meet in city center at one of the most traditional restaurant of Málaga where we will try the local gastronomy having a typical Malaga breakfast.

Afterwards, we will continue discovering the historical centre of Málaga. We will visit the most outstanding landmarks (below) of the city. Besides, we will not only learn a little bit of culture and its more than 2000 years of history, but also interesting curiosities and facts that will surprise you.

After our city center tour, we will hike to the highest point of the city to enjoy Malaga from the top. Málaga in a 360º perspective, north, south, east and west. We will definitely have incredible views of Malaga and amazing pictures are guaranteed.

Meeting Point

Malaga breakfast

We will meet in city center in one of the most traditional restaurant of Málaga where we will try a very local and typical Malaga breakfast. This place recreates a traditional Andalusian restaurant keeping the charm and the atmosphere of ancient times.

San Juan Church

After our local breakfast we will start our tour with our first stop: San Juan church. It is one of the four most important churches founded by the Catholic Monarchs after the conquest of the city in 1487. Gothic style combined with Mudejar style architecture represent a mixture of cultures.

Constitution Square

The main square of Malaga. It has been the hub of Malaga’s life from time of the reconquest. It has changed its name several times and in this tour you will see how the square changed and the events that took and still are taking place in this amazing square. 

Marques de Larios Street

Main street of Malaga inaugurated in 1891. Known as the Malaga’s living room, Calle Larios was open to pedestrians and vehicles until 2003 when it became pedestrian. Nowadays it is a major shopping street and it is the city space where most important events are held.

Malaga Cathedral

officially named «Our Lady of Incarnation», however local people call it «La Manquita» which means «little one-armed lady». Founded in 1528 and work ended in the 17th Century although it is still unfinished nowadays.

Malaga Museum

The main museum of Malaga and the 5th biggest museum of Spain. Located at Customs Palace. This Neo-classic building holds the collections of the Provincial Archaeological Museum and Fine Arts Museum with more than 15,000 references of archaeology and a painting’s collection of more than 2,000 pieces produced along the XIX and XX centuries.

Alcazaba

This Muslim fortress palace which dates from 11th century. Located at the foot of Gibraltar hill is connected by a walled passage to Gibraltar Castle. Alcazaba represents the the Muslim period in Malaga. It is one of the city’s historical monuments most visited due to its beauty and history.

Roman theater

It is one of the symbols of Roman period in Malaga. Built in time of Augustus in the 1st century AD however it was in use until the 3rd century. However the Roman theater was discover in 1951 since it was underneath for many years by the Culture House building. Much of its construction material were used for building the Alcazaba during the Muslim period.

Gibralfaro Hill Hike

After our city center tour covering the main Malaga’s highlights, we will hike Gibralfaro hill, the highest pick of Malaga city center to enjoy the views from the top. Along this hike  we will see Malaga in a 360º perspective, north, south, east and west. Amazing views and pictures of Malaga are guaranteed. 

Malaga from the top

Once we reach the summit, we will have a break for enjoying the views and we will have a toast with local wine as a reward. This hike is not difficult at all and everybody can do it. Amazing views and pictures of Malaga are guaranteed. 

Merced Square

This is our last stop of our perfect morning tour: Merced Square. Picasso’s birth house is located here. You can decide either staying on the top of the hill enjoying the views or coming back to city center. If you decide to stay on the top we highly recommend you to take a picnic with you. It is an ideal picnic spot. 

Cycle Malaga with a local

What we’ll do

We will meet at Málaga center where we will get our bikes. We will use Malaga’s public bikes to pedal around the city – covering more neighborhoods than walking and ducking in to all the nooks and crannies you can’t access by public transport.

During this 3 hour experience we will bike through the city center where you will learn interesting facts about the city, traditions, curiosities and how we local people live here. Among others monuments: The Roman theatre, the cathedral, the Arabic castle and fortress, Picasso’s house and museum… We will stop in every point of interest to share stories, take pictures and answer all questions you might have.

After cycling the historical center, we will head to the east of Málaga where we’ll see the biggest park of Málaga, the city hall, the port, the bullring and the finally we will finish our tour cycling by the Mediterranean sea enjoying the beautiful views and this wonderful weather.

Since we use Málaga’s public bikes, I can help you to get one for yourself so you can keep visiting the city by bike the rest of your holiday in Málaga on your own! Definitely they are faster and cheaper than the bus 🙂

Where you’ll be

We will bike through the city center and we will stop in front of The Roman theatre, the cathedral, the Arabic castle and fortress, Picasso’s house and museum, Constitution Square, Merced Square, Atarazanas Market. We continue cycling to the east where we see El Parque, the City Hall, Bullring, the Port and Malagueta beach promenade.

Cave, Kayak, Paddle Surf + Picnic

What we’ll do

We will meet in city center at 9:30a.m before taking a bus (tickets included) to the closest starting point of our experience.

First we will visit Cave of the Tesoro. This cave is one of only three underwater examples of its kind in the world, and the only example of its kind found in Europe. The other two are in Asia and Central America( Mexico) respectively. (Cave entrance not included: 4,5€)

After our guided visit, we go to the beach to kayak and paddle surf for 2 hours. You will be given all the necessary equipment needed to do both water sports: Kayaking for 1 hour and Paddle Surf for 1hour. Don’t worry If it is your first time, I will explain to you how to use the equipment, although, it is very simple to manage. (Equipment rental not included: 9€)

To finish off this cool experience we’ll have a picnic at the beach to recover energy. After our picnic, you can decide whether to come back to city center or keep enjoying the fun of the beach and the area.

In this tasty gastronomic experience we will visit 3 traditional taverns of Malaga where the locals normally go to enjoy delicious Andalusian tapas besides a nice atmosphere, including the oldest tavern in Malaga which was founded in 1840.

We will try authentic Andalusian tapas and discover the origin of Spanish tapas and why they are so popular internationally. You will try between 5 -6 tapas and I assure you that you will end up more than full!
